New projects

A new ERC Consolidator Grant for EURECOM !

Getting a grant from the

European Research Council

is not an easy task but this is what Marios Kountouris, Professor in the Communication Systems Department, has just accomplished with is project SONATA. He is the fourth EURECOM professor to obtain an ERC grant.

ODEUROPA  EU Horizon 2020,

Raphaël Troncy: Odeuropa will apply state-of-the-art AI techniques to cultural heritage text and image datasets spanning four centuries of European history, to identify and trace how ‘smell’ was expressed in different languages, with what places it was associated, what kinds of events and practices it characterised, and to what emotions it was linked. Starting January 2021 for 3 years.

Funding call CHISTERA

Great success for EURECOM on the hot topic of "Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI)". Among 109 projects submitted in all Europe, 12 were accepted and 2 of them are EURECOM projects!!
Congratulations to Jean-Luc Dugelay and his project "XAIface" and to Raphaël Troncy and his project "CIMPLE"
More info is coming soon, so stay tuned!

IntellIoT H2020 ICT

Jérôme Härri, An €8M Next-Generation #IoT project, with a consortium is of 13 partners spread across 9 countries, supported by the European Comission. The project will bring together #AI and #IoT synergy towards innovative healthcare solutions, but also promote the IoT environments in manufacturing and agriculture!

5GRecords H2020 ICT

Raymond Knopp: It is an Innovation Action having started in September 2020 and lasting for two years, focusing on technology contributions for the second phase of 5G, particularly focused on multimedia use-cases, such as 5G-connected high-end audio devices. EURECOM's role will focus on developing innovative transmission strategies applicable to evolving 3GPP networking scenarios related to multimedia communications such as 5G-enabled microphones and speakers. It will also provide prototyping technologies for testing the project's innovations.

Affordable5G H2020 ICT

Navid Nikaein: Affordable5G will deliver a complete and affordable 5G offering for private and enterprise networks, evaluated and validated in two vertical use cases, related to emergency communications and smart cities. Towards this end, the project’s consortium brings together multiple (10) European SMEs working on 5G networks and equipment, envisioning this innovation initiative, as an opportunity to enhance their products according to each company’s roadmap, while fostering collaboration among them, leveraging cell densification, RU/DU/CU split, edge computing and core network virtualisation, while adopting open solutions, such as O-RAN and open-source MANO frameworks for cloud native micro-service deployments.

6G BRAINS H2020 ICT

Navid Nikaein and Akis Spyropoulos.
Ubiquitous smart wireless connectivity is critical for future large-scale industrial tasks, services, assets and devices. Very significantly improved connectivity needs to be unlocked through novel spectrum combinations and the fully autonomous management of the underlying network resources by applying online AI at multiple decision layers. 6G BRAINS aims to bring AI-driven multi-agent Deep Reinforcement-Learning (DRL) to perform resource allocation over and beyond massive machine-type communications with new spectrum links including THz and optical wireless communications (OWC) to enhance the performance with regard to capacity, reliability and latency for future industrial networks.
